SPOILER ALERT!

The following article contains major Avengers: Endgame spoilers. So, if you haven’t seen the movie yet and are planning to, then STOP READING NOW!

You have been warned……….

After being devastated (in a good way, of course) by Avengers: Infinity War and waiting for almost a year for the “Marvels” to return to our screens (and hearts), we had marked our calendars for the last installment “Avengers: Endgame”, which has to be the most successful movie so far. The second-highest grossing movie that dethroned Avatar and Titanic, Endgame became an overnight juggernaut at the box office. So, no wonder it generated a lot of buzz across the globe.

It was over ten years when Iron Man kicked off the MCU and paved the way to a Marvel-ous cinematic future which we millennials are experiencing and enjoying. It all started with Thanos, the evil god collecting Infinity Stones, and ended with a star mix of heroes coming together to save the world from intergalactic genocide! Being the most anticipated and nostalgic movie of all times (I admit the death of our beloved Iron Man brought me to tears), it surely wrecked our emotions to the extreme. However, it was a true fan service for all those who invested significant time and ‘eyes’ in these superheroes over the past 10 years when Iron Man took our screens and hearts away!

The last, but certainly not the least, installment tried undoing cataclysmic events in Infinity War and also gave an appropriate send-off to the most compelling adventurous series that had us glued to cinema screens for more than a decade. It steeped in years of lore while managing the excitement of watching action-packed scenes and cinematography. Thus, making Endgame a celebration, a nostalgic goodbye and an earnest reminder of the “triumph of good over evil”!

Apart from being a herolicious treat, Avengers: Endgame confounded the ‘eye of the tempest’, sparing many helpful takeaways for our businesses. Because for business visionaries, making a venture thrive is similar to sparing the universe from the edge of extinction, much like our superheroes did!

Even though Avengers: Endgame was an unrivaled story gleaming with hope, it is time to say your goodbyes and tease out a few business lessons along the way!

P.S. Even if you aren’t a fan of superheroes and their action-packed journey, look at this article as a takeaway dissected into bite-sized pieces to relish and enjoy for an unforgettable future!

With that being said, let us enter the Marvel-ous realm of a new and bright beginning with these 5 takeaway business lessons (plus a bonus tip), left behind by our superheroes:

1. Don't run. Sprint!

At the very outset, our beloved Iron Man dismissed the idea of time travel to undo the destruction caused by Thanos and his army. He found it to be a useless plan with obvious potential pitfalls that could unleash more destruction onto the universe. However, we are talking about Iron Man here; a world-renowned intellect and Marvel’s gift to humanity, aren’t we? Therefore, with his curious mind and a few tests, he was able to figure it all out. And guess what?. It worked like a charm!

Business takeaway: It is important to start slow and not jump to conclusions right away. When new ideas come up, an entrepreneur should keep an open mind to evaluate all the possibilities and problems that could come along. He should also build a broader perspective with every detail carefully pondered upon and adopt a positive approach. And most importantly, keep on trying even after continuous failures, because who knows, you might end up saving the world!

2. Sacrifice pays off

Looks like Tony was the starting and also the ending of Marvel’s spectacular journey and, thus, he became “the God of sacrifice”. His death in the movie totally broke the heart of every Marvel fan. It was both a moment of grief and a sigh of relief as the world was saved from decimation.

(Caution: Major spoiler ahead)

When Iron Man sneakily removed Infinity Stones from Thanos's possession, the entire evil army perished along with the supervillain himself. But it all came with the price of Iron Man’s untimely death, which his fans sob over to date. Similarly, the Black Widow’s sacrifice also turned tables in the second act of the film. She gave her life at Vormir while carrying out “Time Heist” with other superheroes. Her selfless act was again an unforgettable moment that garnered a lot of attention and also proved that sometimes sacrifice is all it takes!

Business Takeaway: Just like the movie "Avengers: Endgame" demanded sacrifice by our beloved superheroes, an entrepreneur should be prepared to take chances and make ultimate sacrifices in order to achieve something fantastic. Even though you might be laughed at or mocked for your rejections,  hang in there because success is bittersweet. So, don’t stop in the middle, and forge ahead with faith in your heart that success is coming!

3. Rationalize, not vandalize

Thanos definitely deserves the title of being the “Ultimate Visionary” for “decluttering the universe”, don’t you think? Although his vision beckoned towards a wrong and rather abrupt path, he definitely deserves style points for having a “universe-sized” vision.

He thought the universe is a mess and has an unsustainable growth trajectory due to which he planned to wipe off 50% of life and leave the remaining 50% to balance itself. What?!!

Thanos’s vision was indeed lame which led to bloodshed, sacrifices, genocide, and everything in the name of “greater good”. He was a visionary but definitely not a positive one at that!

Business takeaway: An entrepreneur should have a strong vision with pre-decided goals that are then reciprocated by his team members. However, it is equally important to consider the impact of big vision on the overall functioning of the organization. Even though Thanos had a strong vision, his wrong choices became his undoing. Similarly, an entrepreneur should choose the best path for the entire team, community, and organization as a whole. He should be a visionary and a rational thinker, rather than being an indecisive decision-maker.

3. Collaborate and communicate

At first blush, every superhero was a loner. But it was all a facade until all of them came together and established the mighty “Avengers” with the final installment of Endgame. Our beloved Iron Man relied on Jarvis and Pepper Potts, without whom his suit would have rusted away. Similarly, other superheroes had their own paths to follow until they coincided, leading to genocide prevention! They had to put their heads to a common motive which was the ultimate defeat of Thanos.

Business takeaway: Besides the occasional sarcastic remarks and bickering, our superheroes always indulged in constant communication sessions to combat any issue. In the same way, a successful organization demands continuous communication and collaboration. There is a gamut of issues in an organization right from the C-suite to manufacturing to production. These demand continuous teamwork and message relay. So hold regular discussion sessions, meetings, and group chats to build a good two-way communication system in the organization. This in turn will help in reviving lost relationships, strengthening ties, boosting morale, and increasing productivity regardless of the type of organization and its size.

In the end, one can achieve nothing when alone. So, don’t be a loner; simply communicate and collaborate!

5. A small hole can sometimes turn into a black hole

A majority of Marvel superheroes did not consider the repercussions of retrieving Infinity Stones. However, Nebula, the evil God’s daughter, still connected to her past self, did; finally revealing the entire plan of the Avengers to Thanos. And lo and behold! Thanos is on a move to seize the Infinity Stones for which he had traveled the galaxies.

Business takeaway: There are a lot of loopholes in a plan which can lead to failure and exhaustion of valuable resources. Therefore, there is a need to be extra careful while planning your business activities. Also, take continuous assessment measures and prepare a back-up plan to save your organization from major setbacks.

And now, time for the bonus tip!!!

Even a superhero needs his daily dose of vitamins and minerals

Who would have thought that Thor, the charismatic deity, could end up overweight and dubbed the “Alcoholic God of Thunder”. This teaches us to keep our businesses as well as employees healthy. Engage your employees in some recreational activities that can ease their mind and keep stress at bay. Because remember, if the mighty Thor can turn into a beast with a pot belly, what hope do we mortals have!

So in conclusion, we hope these 5 business lessons revived your lost Avengers memories. Take note and make your business pillars much stronger!
